Brazil promotes oral health through national showcase and local prevention programs

Brazil's Ministry of Health has opened registrations for the 'Mostra Nacional Brasil Sorridente', an initiative designed to share research and experiences regarding oral health within the Unified Health System (SUS). The program invites health professionals, managers, and students to submit work focused on improving dental care access, technology incorporation, and health equity. Selected projects will be presented at regional meetings in Rio de Janeiro, Florianópolis, Belém, Campo Grande, and Natal.

In Maringá, the 29th Oral Health Week has also commenced, focusing on disease prevention and the early detection of oral cancer. The event provides free clinical evaluations and guidance on self-examinations to help residents identify suspicious lesions, such as non-healing wounds or unusual spots. These local efforts aim to increase awareness of risk factors and encourage the use of municipal health units for dental services.
