Brazil pushes planning for early childhood and regional development
The municipality of Guarujá in Brazil has begun drafting a Municipal Plan for Early Childhood, aiming to gather data, consult families and professionals, and integrate education, health, social assistance, culture, sport and mobility to improve outcomes for children aged zero to six. The initiative emphasizes a diagnostic phase before setting goals and stresses continuity across administrations.
Separately, Crea‑SP Capacita hosted an online workshop titled “From Territory to Innovation: Female Leadership, Infrastructure and Data as Engines of Regional Development.” The event featured Portuguese geographer Cristina Silva Ferreira, who highlighted that “territories do not develop by chance… infrastructure, data and people are the three fundamental factors, with leadership as the key element.” Participants discussed the role of evidence‑based decisions, data‑driven investment, and the importance of female leadership, referencing the Women in Business (WinB) network founded by Ferreira.
