Brazil reports multiple road and railway accidents

Brazil has seen a series of significant traffic and railway accidents across various regions. In the railway sector, an audit by the Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) reveals that third-party interference—including vehicles and pedestrians on tracks—accounts for 73.54% of accidents on the federal rail network between 2020 and 2025.

Recent specific incidents include a corn-laden train derailment on a bridge in Limeira, São Paulo, and a collision between a Rumo freight train and a truck at a level crossing in Itiquira, Mato Grosso. In road transport, a collision between two large vehicle combinations on the BR 354 in Carmo do Paranaíba caused total road closure, while an ambulance from Bela Vista crashed into a truck on the BR-060, resulting in the death of a cancer patient.

Other notable accidents involved a truck carrying paving slabs hitting eight cars in Limeira, a pickup truck colliding with a stationary trailer on the GO-206, and multiple severe collisions on the BR-304 involving passenger vehicles.
