Brazil Raises $5.5 bn via Green Bonds, Expands Climate Fund 316‑fold

Brazil’s Ministry of Finance reported that the country’s Ecological Transition Plan has secured US$5.5 billion through green sovereign bonds issued between 2023 and 2025. During the same period the Climate Fund grew 316‑times to about BRL 27 billion, targeting projects in energy transition, green industry, sustainable logistics, mobility, machinery, and the conservation of forests and water resources.

In 2025 the government earmarked BRL 30.7 billion for technological projects, with regional banks partnering with the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) to extend credit. Officials highlighted advances in carbon‑market regulation, a sustainable‑finance taxonomy, low‑emission hydrogen, strategic minerals, sustainable aviation fuel and climate‑resilience initiatives. The plan, launched in 2023, aims to guide Brazil’s development model toward economic growth, environmental sustainability and social inclusion through 2032.
