Brazil receives international observers for general elections

International delegations have arrived in Brazil to observe the upcoming general elections scheduled for October 4. More than 140 observers from seven international entities are participating, including the Organization of American States (OAS), the European Union, the Mercosur Parliament (Parlasur), and the League of Arab States.

The OAS mission is the largest, comprising 91 observers from 23 countries who will be deployed across 20 states and the Federal District. These observers will evaluate electoral logistics, technology use, political financing, and the impact of digital communication and violence on the process.

In addition to international missions, the University of Latin American Integration (UNILA) is coordinating a national observation mission through a network of seven federal universities. This specialized mission focuses on the unique challenges of border regions, such as Foz do Iguaçu and areas bordering Paraguay and Uruguay. This group aims to analyze how migratory flows, indigenous populations, and specific territorial difficulties affect the voting process in areas often overlooked by conventional observers.
