Brazil records record tourism surge in first half of 2025

Brazil logged 5,261,733 international tourist arrivals in the first six months of 2025, the second‑best result in its historical series. Air travel accounted for 3,531,233 visitors, representing 67% of all arrivals and marking a historic high for the period.

Argentina remained Brazil's largest source market, delivering 1,008,022 tourists—a 15.9% increase year‑on‑year and roughly 40% of total foreign visitors. Other South American neighbours also posted strong growth, with Colombia and Peru showing the highest proportional gains. Long‑distance markets expanded as well: Asian arrivals rose 18.8% (led by China, up 55.1%), while Europe achieved its best first‑half figures since 2006, driven by Portugal, Spain, Germany, the UK and France.

The most visited Brazilian states were São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina, reflecting the strong pull of urban, cultural, beach and business destinations for the regional influx.
