Brazil releases August payment schedule for Bolsa Família program
Brazil's Ministry of Development and Social Assistance (MDS) published the official calendar for the August disbursements of the Bolsa Família cash‑transfer program. Payments were moved two days earlier than the previous month, beginning on 18 August for beneficiaries whose NIS ends in 1 and ending on 31 August for those whose NIS ends in 0. Families living in municipalities declared in emergency or public calamity receive a unified payment on 18 August, regardless of NIS digit.
The schedule follows the same rule that payments are normally made in the last ten business days of each month based on the final digit of the beneficiary's NIS. In July, the emergency‑unified payment covered residents of 175 Brazilian cities. Beneficiaries can access funds through the Caixa Tem mobile app or withdraw cash at Caixa Econômica Federal branches. Eligibility requires a per‑capita household income of up to R$ 218 per month and registration in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) system.
The release provides a detailed table of dates by NIS ending digit, helping families plan their cash flow for the month.
