Brazil reports vegetation fires in Codó and Socorro

Multiple vegetation fires have been reported in Brazil, driven by strong winds and dry conditions. In Codó, a large fire near the road leading to the IFMA campus caused significant smoke and flames, temporarily blocking traffic for students and drivers. The intensity of the wind caused the fire to spread rapidly toward palm trees and electrical wiring, though traffic was eventually restored as the flames subsided.

In Socorro, an irregular burn intended to clear an anthill spread to cover approximately 10,000 square meters of vegetation. The incident required intervention from the Civil Defense and the Municipal Civil Guard. The individual responsible was taken to a police station, and an environmental fine of R$ 6,677.55 was issued. Authorities noted that high temperatures and low humidity increase the risk of such fires during the current dry season.
