Brazil Rouanet Law reaches record R$ 1.67 billion in funding

The Rouanet Law has achieved record-breaking results in 2026, marking the highest performance since its inception in 1991. According to data from the Ministry of Culture, 25,650 cultural projects were submitted by the October 31 deadline, representing an 11.6% increase compared to 2025.

In terms of financial mobilization, the mechanism raised R$ 1.67 billion during the first ten months of the year, a 3.5% increase over the same period in 2025. The Ministry of Culture attributes this growth to increased participation from historically underserved geographic areas and populations through initiatives such as Rouanet Norte, Rouanet Nordeste, Rouanet Centro-Oeste, and Rouanet nas Favelas.

Significant regional growth was observed between 2023 and 2025. Funding for the Center-West region rose from R$ 65.5 million to R$ 129.9 million, a 98.3% increase. The North region saw funds grow from R$ 64.7 million to R$ 119.5 million, while the Northeast increased from R$ 148.5 million to R$ 239.2 million. Currently, 5,084 cultural projects are being executed nationwide via the law.
