Brazil schools adjust schedules for World Cup match on June 29

In the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, schools will operate only in the morning on Monday, June 29, to accommodate the national team's first round‑of‑16 match in the 2026 World Cup. State schools will close at noon, municipal schools in Recife, Olinda, Camaragibe and São Lourenço da Mata will also end classes by midday, and private schools are advised to hold morning sessions only, though they may choose to continue in the afternoon if they wish.

In the southern municipality of Caçador, the municipal education secretariat announced that schools and early‑childhood education centers will keep their regular timetables on the same day. Classes will pause briefly during the match so students and staff can watch the game, after which regular instruction will resume.

Both authorities emphasize maintaining educational continuity while allowing the community a shared viewing experience of the Brazil national team’s World Cup fixture.
