Brazil sees surge in home streaming, gaming and audio use during holidays
The Brazilian holiday period is boosting domestic entertainment, with streaming services, video games and audio content seeing increased consumption. Industry data from PwC shows the entertainment and media sector grew 6.7% in 2024, outpacing the global average, and is expected to keep expanding. Kantar IBOPE Media reports that 99.5% of the population is exposed to video content over the year and that average daily viewing time is about five and a half hours per person. While streaming platforms are gaining ground, open‑air television remains a significant part of daily routines, according to a Poder 360 survey. Consumers are using multiple screens—smart TVs, speakers, headphones and consoles—to create shared leisure experiences at home. Retailer Casa&Video notes higher demand for technology and entertainment products during vacation dates. Rodrigo Spillere, CTO and E‑commerce Director of Casa&Video, says the trend reflects a broader shift toward integrated, personalized media consumption as families spend more time together at home.
