Brazil Senate approves 20 radio concessions and renewals

The Senate's Commission of Science, Technology, Innovation and Informatics (CCT) approved 20 concession and renewal requests for radio broadcasters on 15 March. The projects, originating from six Brazilian states, include 12 community‑radio stations, four FM services and four AM stations converted to FM. After approval, the projects were forwarded to the Senate Presidency for promulgation.

The approval list details applicants such as the Associação Comunitária de Comunicação Social e Educacional de Capivari (SP) and Rádio FM 103 Ltda (SC), with several renewals for existing community stations across São Paulo, Maranhão, Rio Grande do Norte, Mato Grosso, and other states. The committee also requested additional information on five pending projects in Minas Gerais. The session was chaired by Senator Hamilton Mourão, the committee's vice‑president.
