Brazilian Senate advances bills on crime incitement and labor rights

The Brazilian Senate is advancing several legislative proposals across security and social rights. The Public Security Commission (CSP) approved a report to increase penalties for inciting crimes, particularly when such incitement occurs via the internet or results in an actual crime. The proposal aims to address legal gaps regarding the spread of panic and insecurity in collective spaces.

Additionally, the CSP is reviewing a project that would allow women under urgent protective measures to acquire and carry firearms, potentially lowering the minimum age from 25 to 18. Another approved project seeks to implement educational campaigns and training to combat sexual harassment in public transportation.

In social matters, the Social Affairs Commission (CAS) approved a bill to guarantee job stability for pregnant women in temporary, intermittent, or apprenticeship contracts from the moment of pregnancy confirmation until five months after childbirth. This measure also extends protections to employees with provisional custody for adoption purposes.
