Brazil's Fies program deadline for private colleges set for June 15

Private higher‑education institutions in Brazil must confirm participation in the Fundo de Financiamento Estudantil (Fies) for the second semester of 2026 by 23:59 on 15 June. Registration is performed exclusively through the Sistema Informatizado do Fies (SisFies) via the FiesOferta module, where each institution must submit detailed data for every course, including semester tuition values, adjustment methods, and a minimum of six offered seats. The participation term must be signed electronically by the legal representative.

The current edition also imposes precautionary measures on medical programmes that performed poorly in the 2025 Exame Nacional de Avaliação da Formação Médica (Enamed). Ninety‑nine medical courses that received Enade scores in bands 1‑2 (less than 60 % adequacy) are barred from entering new Fies contracts and from other federal financing programmes such as Prouni. The Ministry of Education will evaluate the submitted offers before making the funded slots available to students. For further information, institutions can contact the MEC hotline at 0800‑616161.
