Brazil agriculture: Investment and planting updates
Brazil's agricultural sector is seeing significant developments across several states. In Mato Grosso, the state government has invested over R$ 1 billion to support family farming, a growth of more than 1,000% compared to previous administrations. This funding includes the Fundaaf 2.1, providing up to R$ 150,000 in interest-free subsidies for producers who maintain timely payments.
Soybean planting for the 2026/27 season is progressing at varying rates. In Mato Grosso, planting has reached 33.3% of the estimated area, driven by recent rainfall. In Mato Grosso do Sul, planting has reached 18%, with the southern region leading the progress. Meanwhile, in Santa Catarina, planting in Mafra is expected to begin on October 20, covering approximately 35,000 hectares.
In Rio Grande do Sul, the canola and carinata harvest has officially begun. The state, which accounts for over 90% of national production, saw a 102.64% increase in cultivated area compared to the previous year, reaching over 353,000 hectares. This expansion is largely driven by the growing demand for biodiesel and the search for profitable winter crops.
