Brazil Supreme Court moves to revoke Bolsonaro's gun permits amid wider investigation

The Prosecutor General of the Republic asked the Supreme Federal Court to have the Federal Police examine digital messages attributed to lieutenant‑colonel Mauro Cid and the lawyer of Marcelo Câmara, a former aide of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The material is intended to assess whether Câmara’s plea‑deal was given voluntarily, and Justice Alexandre de Moraes has opened an inquiry into possible attempts to obtain confidential information.

In a separate ruling, Justice Alexandre de Moraes revoked the collector’s‑and‑shooting‑license (CAC) and the weapons‑carrying permit of former President Jair Bolsonaro, while keeping his house‑arrest in place. Bolsonaro’s defense must deliver six pistols, two rifles and two shotguns to the Federal Police within 48 hours, with non‑compliance risking a return to prison.

Both actions reflect intensified judicial scrutiny of Bolsonaro‑linked figures.
