Brazil: Survey reveals widespread difficulty accessing legal rights

A recent survey conducted by Ipsos for Jusbrasil reveals that 70% of Brazilians who believe their rights have been violated find it difficult or very difficult to find information regarding their legal rights and judicial processes. The study indicates that 72% of respondents reported that they or someone in their household has experienced a violation of rights.

In a specific instance in the Nova Conquista district of Vilhena, a resident fell victim to a telephone and messaging app scam. A fraudster, posing as a representative of a benefits card company, claimed the victim had won a prize of R$ 30,000. To release the funds, the scammer demanded a R$ 132.00 fee, which the victim paid via Pix using a credit limit. After the payment, the perpetrator blocked all contact, prompting the victim to report the incident to the Civil Police for investigation.
