Brazil Tightens Online Sports Betting Rules to Protect Users

Brazil’s newly enacted regulations for online sports betting require operators to obtain official licences and be overseen by federal authorities. The move aims to improve financial security, data protection, transparency of terms and consumer support for millions of bettors who have turned to digital platforms.

Under the new framework, licensed platforms must verify user identities, safeguard personal and banking information, and provide clear policies on payments, withdrawals and bonuses. They are also obligated to adopt responsible‑gaming tools such as spending limits and monitoring for compulsive behaviour. Betano became the first operator to receive a licence, signalling the start of a more controlled market and raising confidence among users and investors alike.
