Brazil TSE details five voting scenarios for 2026 second round

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has detailed the five possible voting scenarios for the second round of the 2026 elections, scheduled for October 25. Depending on the location, voters will face different combinations of offices and consultations on their electronic ballots.

In some regions, such as Piauí, voters will only select a president. In other states, including Acre, Amazonas, Distrito Federal, Rio Grande do Norte, Espírito Santo, Tocantins, and Rio de Janeiro, the ballot will include both governor and president.

Additionally, supplementary elections for mayors will occur in several municipalities, such as Arroio do Sal (RS) and Martinópolis (SP), where voters will choose both mayor and president. In Itaguaí (RJ) and Goiatins (TO), the ballot will include three positions: mayor, governor, and president.

Certain municipalities will also host plebiscites. These include Chopinzinho and São João (PR) regarding municipal boundaries, and Poxoréu, Primavera do Leste, Colniza, and Cotriguaçu (MT) regarding district dismemberment.
