Brazil upgrades power grids for 6,000 homes and expands service in Goiânia

More than 6,000 households in the Assentamento 26 de Setembro settlement near Brasília will receive upgraded electricity service under a R$ 12 million project announced by Governor Celina Leão. In partnership with Neoenergia Brasília, the plan will replace illegal connections with a regularised network, install about 1,000 new poles, 200 transformers and individual meters, and provide official documentation for residents. The initiative is part of the Energia Cidadã program, which has already benefitted over 52,000 families in the Federal District and aims to reach an additional 40,000 homes by 2029.

Meanwhile, Equatorial Goiás is extending and modernising the grid in Goiânia. In 2026 the utility will add roughly 10 km of new line, linking neighborhoods such as Aeroporto, Bueno, Jardim América, Nova Suíça, Sul and Oeste, and installing remote‑operation equipment that reduces outage response times. The expansion builds on 14 km of work completed in 2025, which already served more than 60,000 customers and improved network balance across the capital. Both projects aim to meet growing urban demand and improve reliability for residential, commercial and health‑service users.
