Brazil: Municipalities face legal scrutiny over management and transparency
Various Brazilian municipalities and regional authorities are facing legal and administrative scrutiny regarding environmental protection, public transparency, and fiscal management.
In Amazonas, the Public Ministry (MPAM) is investigating waste management irregularities in Amaturá and transparency failures in the legislative portal of São Paulo de Olivença. Additionally, an investigation is underway in Careiro Castanho regarding potential nepotism and unverified service payments.
In Maranhão, the Court of Accounts (TCE-MA) is reviewing direct fuel contracts in Lago dos Rodrigues, while the Judiciary has intervened in Buriticupu to halt irregular outsourcing contracts.
