Brazilian banks and cooperatives partner to tokenize real estate credit

Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal, and several credit cooperatives—including Ailos, Sicoob, Sicredi, and Unicred—have signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Operador Nacional do Sistema de Registro Eletrônico de Imóveis (ONR). The partnership aims to digitize real estate credit processes through blockchain technology.

The initiative focuses on the tokenization of the real estate credit journey, transforming contracts and records into secure digital assets. This infrastructure is intended to create a more integrated, traceable, and efficient system, reducing manual steps and improving interoperability between financial institutions and property registrars.

Participants will now begin detailing business journeys and defining integration models. Operational testing for the project is scheduled to commence in March 2027.
