Brazil accelerates AI adoption across finance, industry, and agriculture

Artificial intelligence is driving significant technological and economic shifts in Brazil across various sectors. In the financial industry, institutions are leveraging AI for credit analysis and fraud prevention. A partnership between Stefanini and Banco do Brasil has reportedly generated R$ 23 million in annual savings and saved over 8,000 man-hours per year. Banks are expected to invest R$ 50.4 billion in technology by 2026 to support these advancements.

However, the transition to generative AI presents challenges. A study by TEC. Institute and Peers Consulting + Technology reveals that only 40.7% of Brazilian companies have achieved proven financial returns from generative AI. The research identifies a 'valley' in value capture, where reported results above expectations drop to 13.3% between 12 and 24 months of adoption as companies move from pilot projects to full integration.

In the industrial and agricultural sectors, innovation is also accelerating. BNDES has approved R$ 300 million in financing for Electrolux to develop AI-driven, energy-efficient appliances. Meanwhile, Solterra Soluções Inteligentes has launched ST7 COOP, an AI-native ERP specifically for agribusiness cooperatives. On a broader scale, the BRICS nations are discussing increased cooperation in AI, connectivity, and digital sovereignty to ensure equitable technological development.
