Brazilian beef industry targets China at Sial Paris

The Brazilian beef industry is targeting the Chinese market during the Sial Paris food industry event. Following the exhaustion of this year's 1.1 million tonne import quota, companies are preparing for a new sales period beginning in January.

Roberto Perosa, president of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec), noted that Chinese buyers are actively engaging at the event. Due to high production volumes, industry experts predict that the export quota for China may be exhausted even earlier in 2027 than in 2026.

Currently, exports exceeding the established quota are subject to a 55% import tariff, making additional sales to China largely unfeasible. In response, the sector is diversifying its focus toward other global markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and regions in Africa and the Middle East, while awaiting developments regarding exports to the European Union.
