Brazilian Catholic Church convenes regional priests and CNBB advisors in May meetings
More than 100 priests from dioceses across Mato Grosso gathered at the Diocese of Rondonópolis‑Guiratinga from 25‑27 May for the CNBB Regional West 2 assembly, marking the diocese’s 40th anniversary. The three‑day event featured a procession, a solemn Mass presided by Bishop Maurício da Silva Jardim, and reflections on Pope Leo XIV’s new encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, which addresses human dignity in the age of artificial intelligence.
The following day, 28 May, the CNBB Group of Advisors met in Brasília for a day of formation and strategic planning. Participants reviewed the recent 62nd General Assembly, discussed evangelization strategies, digital mission work, and the role of clear, simple communication amid contemporary crises. A training session highlighted how straightforward language can aid the Church’s outreach, referencing the upcoming World Communications Day and the themes of the encyclical.
