Brazilian beef cattle prices stay firm amid strong export demand
In early June the Mato Graso cattle market rebounded, with the state’s average arroba of beef cattle reaching R$337.68 and the leading municipalities of Lucas do Rio Verde, Cáceres and Tangará posting R$340 per arroba. The price gap with São Paulo narrowed to 3.39%, tightening the historical spread between the two states.
From 9 June the Rio Grande do Sul will use a new official price indicator supplied by Datagro. The tool, backed by the Programa Carne Angus Certificada, will centralise pricing data, cover more than 60 % of national slaughter and allow producers to lock in prices via B3 futures contracts.
Across Brazil the beef cattle market remained firm. Spot prices held at R$355 per arroba in São Paulo and Pará, while Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul stayed around R$350. Shortened abattoir scales, sustained Chinese demand and a U.S. tariff exemption for Brazilian beef all underpin a bullish outlook.
Export performance peaked in May, with shipments generating US$1.703 billion from 261,944 tons. Revenue per day rose 50.2 % and the average price per ton increased 25 %, reinforcing domestic price stability.
