Brazilian cinema premieres 'Ludmilla' short and 'Pequenas Criaturas' drama

Vini Moreira’s short film Ludmilla, set in Taguatinga, follows a disillusioned physical‑education teacher whose involvement in a school sport tournament triggers memories and a renewed emotional outlook. The 15‑minute work reflects on teacher‑student bonds and the search for meaning amid everyday melancholy.

Pequenas Criaturas, a feature drama directed by Anne Pinheiro Guimarães and starring Carolina Dieckmann, is set in Brasília in 1986 during Brazil’s early redemocratization. It tracks Helena’s adjustment after moving to the capital with her family, her husband’s temporary absence, and the personal growth of her children André and Dudu. Produced by Bananeira Filmes with co‑production from Globo Filmes, Telecine and Canal Brasil, the film is scheduled to open on 23 July.
