Brazilian cities block CPF access, launch policy to curb online gambling

Starting Monday, the Casas do Cidadão Zeladoria in Sorocaba will provide self‑service kiosks where residents can log into Gov.br and restrict their CPF from accessing online betting sites; staff will be on hand to assist with any difficulties.

In Itabira, councilor Hudson Diogo Junio “Yuyu da Pedreira” presented Bill 68/2026 to create a Municipal Policy of Prevention and Care for Sports Betting and Online Gambling. The proposal calls for education campaigns, psychosocial support, coordination with health and social‑assistance services, a ban on advertising and sponsorship of betting houses in public spaces, and fines for violations. He noted, “Ontem a gente aprovou também o projeto do Leandro Pascoal… e esse projeto agora é uma realidade.” Both measures aim to protect public health and prevent gambling addiction in their municipalities.
