Brazilian cities impose traffic changes for weekend events

Across Brazil, municipal traffic agencies are directing drivers to expect temporary road closures, detours and lane reversals this weekend as a series of sporting, cultural and community events take place.

In Curitiba, Setran will monitor the Motorcycle Fest, Trail Club ride and the 10th Hospital Pequeno Príncipe run, advising motorists to use alternative routes and obey provisional signage. Campo Grande and the nearby district of Anhanduí will block Rua República do Líbano and Rua Mississipi for a Fit Dance class and a community gathering, with Agetran recommending detours via Avenida Marechal Deodoro, Rua Tenerife, Rua Barbacena and Rua do Lunar.

Maceió’s first International Marathon will see the DMTT close central streets, invert traffic flow on Avenida Álvaro Calheiros and restrict access to several avenues from the night of July 31 through August 2 to protect athletes and spectators. João Pessoa’s 6th International Marathon will share lanes between runners and vehicles, with Semob‑JP deploying agents and signage along the PB‑008 corridor.

In the Federal District, Detran‑DF will re‑route traffic on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, S1, N1 and the Palácio Presidencial during the Live! Run XP races and will close Rua do Lazer in Gama on Sunday. Porto Velho’s roundabout on the Tiradentes‑Rio Madeira intersection will be partially closed for lighting and drainage works, with the municipal secretary urging reduced speed.

Rondonópolis will open an exclusive bus, taxi and app‑driver corridor for the 52nd Exposul, while São Mateus do Sul will temporarily block streets for the Polish Month parade. The Rio‑Niterói bridge will lose two lanes on Saturday night and a third lane on Sunday morning for the Desafio da Ponte half‑marathon, with extra ferry trips scheduled to offset the disruption. All agencies stress compliance with signage and the presence of traffic officers to ensure safety.
