Brazilian Cities Face Road Disruptions Due to Drainage Works

In Feira de Santana, drivers on Avenida Artêmia Pires in the Sim neighbourhood are struggling with numerous potholes that appeared after sanitation pipe installation. The damage forces motorists to reduce speed, extending travel times to the city centre to 30 minutes during peak periods (6‑7 am and 5‑8 pm). Residents report vehicle wear and increased costs.

In Itabira, the municipality has partially closed Avenida Daniel Jardim de Grisolia from Saturday 7 am to Monday noon for emergency drainage repairs after a two‑metre subsidence was detected. A detour via Dr. Sizenando de Barros, Rua São José and Avenida João Pinheiro is in place, and full reopening will wait until hot‑asphalt work can be completed on Monday.
