Since July 2024, Feira de Santana’s municipal government has pursued a broad programme to modernise health facilities and improve urban mobility. The service order for its construction is scheduled for signing on August 17, 2026.

Health service quality has come under scrutiny following a case where a 76-year-old cancer patient, Edna Dantas Pinho, was allegedly denied emergency care at Unacon. In response to accessibility needs, the municipal health secretariat launched the “Remédio em Casa” programme, a pilot initiative in the Bonfim district to deliver medicines to seniors and bedridden patients, with plans for wider expansion.
