Brazilian cities host mass free pedal events and study links bike infrastructure to usage

The event is part of the city’s efforts to promote active mobility and environmental education.
A University of São Paulo study covering 2014‑2024 data found that residents living near bike lanes and other public spaces are more likely to use bicycles for daily trips, but overall bicycle use fell from 6.2 % to 4 % over the period, indicating that infrastructure alone does not guarantee increased cycling.
