Brazilian cities launch free pet neutering programs

Municipalities in Brazil are launching initiatives to provide free neutering services for dogs and cats to control animal populations and prevent diseases.

In Sorocaba, the City Hall, through the Secretariat of Environment, Protection, and Animal Welfare (Sema), has opened registrations for free neutering in October. The program includes microchipping to help identify owners and improve animal welfare. Residents must register online with proof of residence and identification to secure a limited number of spots.

In Macapá, the Amapá Government, in partnership with Instituto Golias, is conducting a mobile clinic drive at Residencial Macapaba 2. The service, provided via the ‘Carreta Animal’ structure, offers neutering, microchipping, and post-surgical medication. Participants must register in advance through the official project website.
