Brazilian cities launch housing upgrades and land regularization drives

Mayor Alysson Bestene of Rio Branco inspected the Vale do Açaí neighborhood and the Jaguar informal settlement, highlighting long‑standing problems such as inadequate roads, open‑air sewage, limited mobility for residents and difficulty for emergency services. The municipal team pledged clean‑up actions, technical monitoring and the registration of families in the national CadÚnico system, while emphasizing cooperation with federal housing schemes like Minha Casa Minha Vida.

In Catalão, Goiás, the state housing agency Agehab convened a mobilization meeting with about 170 residents of the Castelo Branco, Universitário and Teotônio Vilela lotes. The agency explained the “Pra Ter Onde Morar – Escritura” program that provides free title deeds, with 19 owners slated to receive their deeds at the event. Agehab will handle topographical surveys, socioeconomic registration and legal processing to secure permanent ownership for families awaiting formal land registration.
