Brazilian cities offer free kids' library spaces and storytelling events

The municipal government of Goiânia launched a free children’s reading area at the Biblioteca Municipal Cora Coralina in Campinas. Open Monday‑Friday from 08:00 to 18:00 during school holidays, the Espaço Kids provides a diverse collection of books for on‑site reading and loan, aiming to foster imagination and literacy. Secretary of Culture Uugton Batista said, “A biblioteca é pública e está aberta para a comunidade, para as crianças. O espaço é agradável, arejado e tem muitos livros como opção de boa leitura.”

In Sorocaba, the Prefeitura organized a complimentary storytelling session titled “Exploradores de Histórias: Uma Viagem pelo Mundo dos Livros” at the Biblioteca Infantil Municipal Renato Sêneca de Sá Fleury on July 30, 2026. Bibliothecary student Amanda Maciel led the event, presenting children’s stories and encouraging creativity and reading among attendees.
