Brazilian Cities Offer Free Training Programs for Inclusion and Job Skills

The Seprosom agency, together with SENAI, opened registration on 16 July for a free basic Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) course in Limeira. The program provides 18 slots for residents aged 16 or older who have completed elementary school but have not taken a Libras module before. It runs 160 hours from 4 August 2026 to 18 March 2027, with classes held twice weekly at the city's Núcleo de Atendimento ao Cidadão.

In Botucatu, a partnership among Sebrae‑SP, SENAI and the CAPS AD II Renascer mental‑health centre launched a free technical course in residential electrical installations for patients of the centre. The curriculum also covers organization, entrepreneurship and income‑generation skills, aiming to improve employability and reduce the stigma surrounding mental‑health treatment. Participants report that the training opened new professional opportunities.

Both initiatives are municipal‑level efforts to broaden social inclusion and expand job prospects for vulnerable groups in Brazil.
