Brazilian cities Paranaguá and Apucarana launch municipal clean‑up programs

In Paranaguá, mayor Adriano Ramos led a cleanup of an abandoned house in Vila São Carlos under the municipality’s “Operation Imóvel Seguro.” Teams from several secretariats removed large amounts of trash and debris, finding no occupants but noting health‑risk conditions. Ramos said the action was requested by councilor Edilson after residents complained of foul odor, adding, “We came with our project Imóvel Seguro to do the cleaning and preserve those who live nearby.”

In Apucarana, mayor Rodolfo Mota reported that the city’s free residential furniture‑collection service, coordinated via WhatsApp, surpassed 10,500 pickups. The program handles up to 30 daily requests, filling four trucks with sofas, mattresses, appliances and other discarded items. Mota emphasized, “The service is fast and free. There is no justification for illegal dumping,” noting the initiative helps keep the city clean, reduces breeding sites for disease‑carrying insects and supports sustainable waste handling.

Both initiatives aim to improve public health, safety and environmental conditions in their respective communities.
