Brazilian municipalities ramp up cleaning and drainage maintenance

Municipal authorities in several Brazilian cities launched intensified cleaning and maintenance operations this week. In Manaus, the urban cleaning department cleared vegetation and removed waste from the Passarinho stream banks, urging residents not to litter. Petrolina's urban development office issued 811 notices for irregular land and sidewalk conditions, warning owners of fines and potential service charges if violations persist.

In the state of Paraná, Tibagi's urban works secretariat organized a force‑task to clean clogged drains and manholes in the Vila Santo Antônio neighbourhood, aiming to improve rainwater runoff ahead of expected heavy rains. Belém's municipal services scheduled a month‑long debris collection program for densely populated housing complexes, detailing allowable materials and drop‑off limits. Marilândia do Sul's urban services department also cleared trash from storm drains, replaced broken grates and reinforced drainage infrastructure to prevent flooding during rain events.

All initiatives emphasize community cooperation, proper waste disposal and preventive maintenance to safeguard public health and urban infrastructure.
