Brazil roadworks cause widespread traffic disruptions in Minas, São Paulo, Paraná and beyond

The EPR Via Mineira concessionaire will carry out maintenance on the BR‑040 between Belo Horizonte and Juiz de Fora from 13‑18 July, including partial lane closures and night‑time work in municipalities such as Nova Lima and Congonhas. In São Paulo state, Ecovias Noroeste Paulista resumed works on the Washington Luís highway (SP‑310) near Rio Preto, adding third and fourth lanes, viaducts and pavement repairs, with daytime traffic restrictions. In Belo Horizonte, the Belvedere viaduct expansion was restarted on 8 July after a new contractor, Construtora Itamaracá, was appointed; the project aims to add a third lane by late 2027. Betim’s Monte Carmo viaduct entered a prefabricated‑segment installation phase, overseen by the mayor. Aracaju’s Francisco Porto viaduct entered its final traffic‑change stage, redirecting flows around ongoing structural repairs. The Ayrton Senna bridge linking Guaíra (PR) and Mundo Novo (MS) began Pare‑e‑Siga operations in mid‑July, with pavement and structural work scheduled through October. Finally, a new concrete bridge replacing an aging wooden structure opened between Mercedes and Marechal Cândido Rondon, improving safety for local traffic.
