Brazil road infrastructure upgrades

Entities: EPR Via Mineira · Coronel Vivida Municipality · BR‑280 · Paulinho Freire · Ecovias Raposo Castello

Overview

Mid‑July 2026 Brazil stepped up maintenance and expansion on key highways, adding lanes on SP‑310, widening viaducts in Belo Horizonte and progressing work on the Ayrton Senna bridge and the Rodovia Presidente Dutra (BR‑116) corridor.

Early August saw municipal projects complement the highway programme: Indaiatuba disabled parts of its municipal fiber‑optic network to service four health units, Goiânia repaired vandalised park equipment, and the Rodoanel Oeste concessionaire Motiva posted a weekly schedule for pavement recovery and tunnel work on the SP‑021 ring road. State‑run BR‑381 between Caeté and Governador Valadares received drainage cleaning, pavement preparation and new signage, while Ecovias Noroeste Paulista launched an intensive lane‑addition and viaduct‑construction drive on several São Paulo highways, targeting completion by 9 August. Rural road‑paving was funded in Coronel Vivida, and Pelotas completed emergency pothole repairs on more than 20 streets.

On 3 August, additional highway works were announced. Motiva Minas released a weekly plan for the Fernão Dias (BR‑381) corridor, with lane closures and drainage work in Guarulhos, Atibaia and nearby towns. EPR Via Mineira began pavement rehabilitation, signage upgrades and drainage improvements on BR‑040 between Juiz de Fora and Belo Horizonte, employing “pare e siga” traffic control. DNIT will temporarily block a section of BR‑280 in Guaramirim for a provisional access and utility‑relocation project. A planned full‑day closure of the Régis Bittencourt (BR‑116) return device in Miracatu was cancelled, postponing repairs. In Santa Catarina, the state secretariat prepared bids for the ViaMar project, a six‑lane parallel road to BR‑101, covering a 24‑km, R$ 2.2 billion segment. Drivers are repeatedly advised to plan trips, respect temporary signage, reduce speed and anticipate possible weather‑related delays.

These coordinated actions aim to improve mobility, safety and service reliability across multiple Brazilian regions.
