Brazilian cities strengthen urban tree programs with new equipment and tree transplants

The Horto Florestal Tote Garcia in Cuiabá received a R$32.5 million equipment package, including mulching machines, soil drills, chainsaws and blowers, to expand seedling production, area maintenance and city‑wide arborisation. Municipal environmental planner Fábio Moura said the tools will speed planting of new street trees and improve daily vegetation management.

In Guarulhos, the municipal Secretariat of Green, Climate and Sustainability is transplanting 50 mature trees, including 37 palm‑leaf specimens, from the Cecap club area to the newly opened Avenida Geraldo Evangelista de Souza in the Macedo district. The operation, coordinated by agronomists and biologists, involves careful crown reduction, root protection and irrigation to ensure successful re‑establishment. The added trees aim to lower air and noise pollution, improve thermal comfort and reduce flooding in the neighbourhood.
