Brazilian city of Camboriú unveils El Niño action plan as Colombo Agroindústria boosts fire prevention

The municipality of Camboriú presented an integrated "Camboriú em Alerta ao El Niño" action plan, coordinating municipal secretaries, the Civil Defense and a newly created volunteer group (GT‑8) to prepare for potential heavy rains and floods linked to the El Niño phenomenon. Mayor Leonel Pavan highlighted the plan’s preventive focus, noting that Camboriú was the first city to declare a state of emergency for El Niño, aiming to protect lives and reduce damage.

Colombo Agroindústria carried out its "Unidos Contra o Fogo" campaign, conducting fire‑brigade training, school outreach, and awareness caravans in the municipalities of Ariranha, Palestina and Santa Albertina. Company executives emphasized continuous preparedness and community education, with support from local governments, civil defense units and police forces.

Both initiatives illustrate coordinated efforts between public authorities and private entities in Brazil to strengthen disaster preparedness and environmental safety.
