Brazilian gamer wins lawsuit forcing Microsoft to restore Xbox account and digital library

A Brazilian Xbox player known as Ordo_Liberal had his account hacked despite two‑factor authentication. Microsoft deemed the account “irrecoverable” and permanently suspended it, denying access to his purchased games and OneDrive files. The user sued in a Brazilian small‑claims court, which ruled in his favour. Microsoft must reactivate the account and restore the full digital library within 15 days, pay 2,000 reais (about $400) in moral damages, and face a daily fine of 150 reais if it fails to comply, capped at 1,500 reais. The judgment highlights consumer‑protection rights over digital purchases and comes amid broader industry debate about the ownership of digital‑only game libraries.
