Brazilian courts auction dozens of properties to address creditor debts
A building housing the Universidade Candido Mendes in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, is scheduled for auction on 21 July with a minimum bid of R$ 54 million. The 5,000 sqm structure sits on a 6,000 sqm plot in a high‑value neighbourhood and is part of the university’s ongoing judicial‑recovery process that began in 2020, following previous asset sales worth R$ 25 million.
The Tribunal de Justiça of Rio Grande do Norte will hold an online auction on 25 June for more than 80 real‑estate assets across several Natal districts, including a duplex, four apartments and multiple lots. The properties were seized to satisfy creditor claims, and bidders may acquire them for up to 50 % of the assessed value, with payment possible in up to 30 installments after a 25 % down‑payment.
