Brazilian courts open new judicial facilities in Minas Gerais and Brasília
The Tribunal de Justiça de Minas Gerais (TJMG) officially inaugurated the new Forum Doutor Joaquim de Assis Martins Costa in Governador Valadares. The five‑storey building, covering more than 15,000 m², consolidates all judicial services of the comarca under one roof, improving accessibility and working conditions. The ceremony featured the raising of flags, the unveiling of an inauguration plaque, and the presentation of a fire‑safety certificate from the Military Fire Department. OAB subseção president Arilson Ribeiro and TJMG president Vicente de Oliveira Silva highlighted the project as a historic achievement for the region.
In Brasília, the Tribunal de Justiça do Distrito Federal e dos Territórios (TJDFT) opened an integrated space on the third floor of the Federal District Forum. The new area brings together the Núcleo de Justiça Restaurativa (NUJURES), the Coordenadoria da Mulher em Situação de Violência Doméstica (CMVD), the Núcleo Permanente de Mediação e Conciliação (NUPEMEC) and the Secretaria de Métodos Adequados à Solução de Conflitos (SEMASC). Officials said the consolidation will enhance coordination among units that resolve civil and criminal disputes through mediation and conciliation. The inauguration coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Maria da Penha Law, underscoring the court’s focus on protecting women from domestic violence.
