Brazilian data authority ANPD begins audit of porn sites for minors

The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) of Brazil has started a monitoring process of 18 adult-content platforms to verify whether the mechanisms used to block users under 18 are effective. The audit will examine the age‑verification tools, data collection practices, and storage safeguards employed by the sites, which currently often rely on a simple click‑through confirmation.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to enforce the Brazilian Constitution, the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) regarding the treatment of minors’ personal data. No penalties have been issued yet; the ANPD is gathering information and may open administrative proceedings if non‑compliance is found.
