Amazon Poranga Fashion showcases regional sustainable design

The Amazon Poranga Fashion event in Manaus is highlighting regional creative economy and sustainable fashion. The 4th edition of the event features over 20 local brands, providing a platform for Amazonian designers to showcase their work and professionalize their brands.

A central highlight is the ‘Gigantio’ collection, an initiative by the Fundação Amazônia Sustentável (FAS) in collaboration with designers Siodohi and Regina Ramos. The collection utilizes leather from the sustainable management of the pirarucu fish, sourced from the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve. To ensure transparency and value the bioeconomy, the project employs blockchain technology to track the production chain from the fish's origin to the final fashion products.

Other participating designers include Daniel Lira, who presented his ‘D’ELE’ collection. His work draws inspiration from the history of the rubber tree and Amazonian cultural elements, utilizing materials like seeds and delicate fabrics to connect clothing with regional identity.
