Brazilian Federal Institutes open applications for free 2027 undergraduate courses

Federal Institutes in Brazil have opened registration for free undergraduate programs for the 2027 academic year.

The Instituto Federal de Minas Gerais (IFMG) is offering various bachelor's, teaching, and technology degrees across 18 campuses. Applicants can apply until September 14, 2026, using Enem scores or a combination of high school transcripts and an online essay. Available fields include Mechanical Engineering, Agronomy, Law, Computer Science, and Architecture. Candidates may select up to three courses within the same campus.

Simultaneously, the Instituto Federal de Mato Grosso (IFMT) has opened 1,545 vacancies across 19 units in the state. The selection process, which runs until September 13, 2026, does not require in-person exams. It is divided into two tracks: 559 vacancies for those using Enem scores from 2010 to 2025, and 986 vacancies based on high school academic transcripts. Programs include Administration, Civil Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science.
