Brazilian Federal Universities Announce Graduate Program Openings
The Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) opened applications for master’s, doctorate and post‑doctoral programs across several fields. Selections run through July and August, with openings in Forest and Environmental Sciences, Law, Society and Culture in the Amazon, among others. Specific quotas include a few slots reserved for military firefighters, as well as affirmative‑action places for Black, Indigenous, quilombola and disabled candidates. Application details, test formats and document requirements are posted on each program’s website.
The Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) also began free registrations for its Master’s and Doctorate in Regional Development. A total of 22 vacancies are offered—13 for the master’s and nine for the doctorate—with a single affirmative‑action seat for Indigenous or quilombola applicants in each degree. Registrations close on 18 September 2026, with studies slated to start in the first semester of 2027. The selection process includes curriculum analysis, language proficiency checks and a remote oral defense of the research proposal.
