Brazilian federal universities expand course offerings

Brazilian federal universities Ufersa and UFFS have received approval from the Ministry of Education (MEC) to implement numerous new undergraduate courses across several campuses.

Ufersa will introduce ten new courses through the ‘Transformative Universities’ program. Starting in March 2027, the expansion will affect campuses in Mossoró, Angicos, Caraúbas, and Pau dos Ferros. New offerings include Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Aeronautical Sciences, and Bilingual Pedagogy. The institution is also working to establish programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Meanwhile, UFFS has secured approval for 20 new course proposals across its six campuses in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. These programs, scheduled to begin between 2027 and 2029, cover diverse fields such as Law, Psychology, Computer Science, Biotechnology, and International Relations. The expansion includes the acquisition of new teaching positions to support the increased academic load.
